Sell a motorhome that doesn't run
Motorhome won't start, has engine or transmission problems, or hasn't moved in years? We buy non-running RVs in Houston and tow them away free.

You can sell a non-running motorhome in Houston without getting it back on the road first. Whether your Class A, Class B or Class C has dead batteries, a bad engine, a blown transmission or unsafe brakes, Cash For RV considers buying it as-is. You do not need to drive it to us.
Tell us what happened, share photos and explain where it is parked. We review the details, often provide a cash offer the same day, and arrange a quick in-person look. If you accept, we pay at signing and arrange removal at no cost to you.
The short version
- You do not have to repair a motorhome before asking us for an offer.
- Working coach systems and other usable components can still contribute value.
- We arrange appropriate removal equipment for accepted non-running RVs.
- Share shop charges, access restrictions and known mechanical problems early.
Who selling a non-running motorhome in Houston is best for
Selling as-is may suit you if the motorhome has been sitting, a repair estimate exceeds what you want to spend, or you no longer want to manage the work. We consider everything from an unexplained no-start condition to major engine, transmission or chassis electrical failure.
You can also ask for an offer when mechanical trouble comes with water intrusion, storm damage or worn-out interiors. Our approach to buying damaged RVs as-is starts with an honest description, not a requirement that you fix everything. Some units are not a fit, and we will tell you.
Compare further diagnosis with selling as-is
A motorhome that will not start does not automatically need an engine. Discharged batteries after long storage, degraded fuel, fuel-system deposits and electrical faults can produce similar symptoms. A motorhome that starts may still be unsafe to move because of brake or transmission problems.
Before authorizing more diagnosis, ask the shop what the next test costs, what it should establish and whether it leads to a firm repair estimate. Compare that spending with your goal: keeping the RV or selling it.
You do not need a confirmed diagnosis to request our offer. Describe what you observed rather than guessing at the cause. We buy RVs; we do not provide repair or diagnostic services.
When your motorhome is waiting at a Houston repair shop
Big-rig repair work can involve a suitable service bay, lifting equipment, chassis expertise and parts availability. Those requirements can make scheduling harder than for a passenger vehicle. Ask your Houston shop when diagnosis can begin, whether it handles your particular chassis and what could delay the work.
If the RV is already accruing storage fees, request an itemized balance and the shop's release requirements. Tell us about those charges before we arrange a visit or pickup. We do not promise to pay your shop bill.
With the shop's permission, we can inspect the motorhome there. Coordinate access, release authorization and removal hours so an accepted offer does not get stalled at the gate.
What can still have value with a failed engine or transmission
A failed drivetrain does not erase the condition of the rest of the motorhome. The coach body, roof, interior, appliances, generator and remaining chassis components all help us evaluate it. Working equipment matters, but so do leaks, corrosion, missing parts and how long the RV has sat.
For a Class A motorhome sale, describe whether it is gas or diesel and any known chassis issues. When selling a Class C motorhome, include cab and overhead sleeping-area condition. Class B camper vans are considered too.
We look at the complete unit rather than promising a value based on one working appliance or an unverified engine diagnosis.
Details that help us evaluate your broken motorhome
You do not need to commission new testing before contacting us. Existing records, clear photos and a straightforward account of the problem are useful. If a detail is unknown, just say so.
Include photos of the exterior, interior, engine area if safely accessible, and visible damage. For warning lights or diagnostic codes, send any photos or reports you already have.
- Year, make, model, motorhome class and gas or diesel engine.
- When it last ran and when it last moved under its own power.
- Whether it cranks, starts, shifts, steers and brakes.
- Known fault codes, repair estimates and work already attempted.
- Missing components, fluid leaks, flood exposure or long-term storage.
- Exact location, access restrictions and any outstanding shop charges.
We arrange the right removal equipment
A disabled motorhome needs a removal plan that fits its size and condition. We arrange the appropriate tow equipment rather than expecting you to make it roadworthy. Tell us about locked wheels, low tires, limited steering, soft ground, tight gates or a difficult driveway before pickup.
Our Greater Houston service area includes Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Brazoria, Galveston, Waller and Chambers counties. We can look at an RV at your home, storage lot, RV park or repair shop.
The same conversation applies to a travel trailer or fifth wheel with a broken axle or failed brakes. Our accepted RV types and conditions include towables, but describe the damage so we can assess removal before scheduling it.
How your offer, inspection and payment work
Start by sending details and photos through our online form, by phone or by text. We review them and give you a cash offer, often the same day. Our RV buying process then includes a quick in-person look wherever the unit is located within our service area.
If the condition matches your description, the offer stands. If we find a significant undisclosed issue, we explain what changed and why it affects the number. You can decline.
There are no fees, commissions or obligations. At signing, we pay by cashier's check, bank transfer or cash, handle the title paperwork and arrange removal at no cost. You can request a cash offer without authorizing repairs first.
Finish the Texas ownership paperwork
For a titled motorhome, the seller signs the title with the sale date and odometer reading, plus Form 130-U showing the sales price. Remove your license plates, which stay with you. The buyer must title the vehicle in their name within 30 days.
You should also file the free online Vehicle Transfer Notification, Form VTR-346, with TxDMV within 30 days. It protects you from tickets, tolls and liability after the sale. We handle the sale paperwork with you, but confirm questions about your documents with TxDMV or your county tax assessor-collector office.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sell a motorhome with a bad engine if I still owe on it?
Yes, a loan does not automatically prevent a sale. We can pay your lender directly, and you receive any equity. If the payoff exceeds our offer, you must cover the difference at closing. We do not make loans. Confirm payoff instructions with your lender, including how it handles a paper or electronic title and lien release.
What if I cannot find the Texas title?
A missing title does not mean you should abandon the conversation. Tell us before arranging a visit. A certified copy of a lost Texas title is requested from TxDMV using Form VTR-34. Confirm the requirements with TxDMV, especially if a lender is involved or the ownership record does not match your current information.
Can you buy an inherited motorhome that has not run in years?
We can consider its condition, but you also need authority to transfer ownership. If the owner died without a will and no probate was opened, heirs may be able to use Form VTR-262, subject to TxDMV conditions. With a will, probate is generally required. Confirm the correct route with TxDMV or an attorney before signing.
Should I clear diagnostic codes before sending photos?
No, leave existing information available rather than clearing it for the sale. A code photo or previous diagnostic report can help explain the symptoms, although it does not establish a complete diagnosis by itself. Tell us whether codes returned after earlier repairs and disclose any temporary fixes. You do not need to buy a scanner for our review.
